These Terms of Use explain the basic rules for using the My Avian Archive™ app and website. My Avian Archive™ is a Hawk Head Studios project.

Acceptance of terms

By using the My Avian Archive™ app or website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these Terms of Use, please do not use the app or website.

About My Avian Archive™

My Avian Archive™ V1 is a Florida-first bird checklist, progress, and archive app built around a regional bird dataset. It is designed to help users track personal checklist progress, including birds marked as found for the selected region. Expansion beyond Florida is planned for future versions but is not implemented in V1.

My Avian Archive™ is not an official government checklist, official bird record authority, or exhaustive field guide. Bird information, checklist content, and availability details are provided as practical supporting information and may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. Ornithological data and accepted scientific information can change over time, and we make reasonable efforts to keep the app’s information current.

Accounts and account responsibility

Users create an account or sign in to save personal checklist progress. You are responsible for keeping your account access information private and for activity connected to your account.

Please do not share passwords, reset links, or sensitive account information with anyone, including support.

Checklist and progress use

Saved progress in the current version of My Avian Archive™ is checklist/found-bird progress. The current version does not intentionally support personal notes, user-uploaded photos, exact location logs, payment features, subscriptions, ads, or in-app purchases.

Outdoor safety and legal responsibility

Birding and outdoor activity can involve risks, including weather, terrain, wildlife, traffic, private property, and other hazards. You are responsible for your own safety and for following all applicable laws, rules, land-access requirements, park rules, and wildlife protections.

My Avian Archive™ does not provide professional, legal, safety, medical, or emergency advice.

No affiliation with official organizations

Unless clearly stated otherwise, My Avian Archive™ and Hawk Head Studios are not affiliated with government agencies, official checklist bodies, parks, conservation organizations, or third-party birding organizations.

User conduct

You agree not to misuse the app or website, interfere with the service, attempt unauthorized access, use the service unlawfully, or use the service in a way that harms the app, website, other users, or related systems.

Account deletion

You can delete your account in the app by going to:

If you cannot access the app or cannot sign in, you can request account deletion through the Account Deletion page.

Privacy

Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how the current version of My Avian Archive™ handles account information, checklist progress, and support information.

Service availability and changes

The app and website may change, be updated, become unavailable, or be discontinued in whole or in part. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service.

Intellectual property

My Avian Archive™ and Hawk Head Studios branding, website content, app content, logos, design elements, and related materials belong to or are licensed by the project/developer. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, or misuse these materials except as allowed by law or with written permission.

Third-party services

My Avian Archive™ uses service providers to operate the app and website. These currently include Supabase for authentication, backend, and database services; Firebase Hosting for website hosting; and Zoho Mail for support email. These services may change over time as the project develops.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the effective date on this page.
